Kelly blue book (officially called kelly's blue book) is a book published yearly to
provide specific information about the value of vehicles, cars, vans, trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, etc, including wholesale and retail value, the value of mileage and options, etc. It's the best-known of the car pricing guide. It's all started when young Les Kelley sold
a used car in 1914 in California.
The first edition of the book
was published in 1926. It was called blue book since it was regarded as the
upper class of automotive value determination. By 1962 Kelley's company was
totally devoted to the Kelly BlueBook, a trade publication. In 1993, Kelley
decided to make it a consumer publication, and many useful information are
added to the book. Nowadays, it covers more than 10,000 models of vehicles.
